Our First Recipe!

Congratulations to Marina!
She is the first to cook a very special dish for us!
And it is a LEMON PIE!
Here comes its recipe in English

LEMON PIE
INGREDIENTS:

Dough: 250g margarine
½ glass of milk
40g yeast
1 teaspoon of sugar
3 glasses of flour
4 yolks

Filling: 2 lemons
2 glasses of sugar

Cream: 4 glairs (whites of eggs)
½ teaspoon of dried lemon peel
½ glass of icing sugar

PREPARATION:
You should melt and then cool margarine. Add yolks, yeast which has already been diluted in warm milk, also add flour and knead dough. Then put the dough into the fridge.
Pare the lemon peel and mince it. One part of it should be left for cream. To the other part sugar and minced lemon (without stones) should be added.
Roll out dough till the 1st thickness and put it in to the greased with margarine griddle. Overlay the dough with lemon filling and put it into the oven (t=220ºC). It will be ready in nearly 20 min. Don’t forget to warm the oven beforehand.
Whip glairs adding icing sugar and lemon peel. Overlay the pie with cream and dry it a little in the oven (10 min will be enough; BUT don’t forget to lower the temperature in the oven from 220ºC to 210ºC).
Note: This recipe is for 2 (!) lemon pies.

This pie looks and tastes delicious, especially if you like sour-sugary desserts.
BON APPETITE!

Traditional Belarusian Cuisine

In its development Belarusian cuisine has been influenced by the Russian, Lithuanian as well as Jewish, Tartars and some other traditions.
Belarusians have preserved many traditional recipes.

General features:

• Geographical location and weather conditions in Belarus resulted in a wide use of such products as forest mushrooms and berries, herbs, apples, pears, river fish and crab, milk products.

• Belarusian cuisine is known for a big choice of potato dishes.

• Various flour pancake dishes are popular in Belarusian cuisine.

• Mushrooms are widely used in cooking but rarely as a separate dish and are mostly used to add taste to the main dish. Usually they are stewed or boiled.

• Fish is also rarely fried and mostly baked, stewed or very often dried.

• Belarusian cuisine is known for rich soups, often dressed with sour cream, as well as cold soups refreshing for the hot summer periods.

• Marinated vegetables are widely used in Belarusian cuisine: marinated tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms etc. It is still traditional for Belarusian families to make marinated mushrooms and vegetables based on home recepies.

• Meat: Belarusians eat lightly salted lard from pork to accompany boiled potatoes traditionally in winter. Pork is widely used in homemade sausages. Low fat pork and beef are mostly baked not fried. In traditional cuisine goose was widely used however nowadays it is mostly replaced by chicken.

• Grated and pureed forms of products (meats, fish, potatoes, vegetables) are used in many dishes separately or in combination with each other. Forest berries, pears, apples are usually not mixed with each other: various jellies, kvass, purees, baked puddings are made from one type of berries or fruits but not a mix.

• Cooking methods characteristic for the old traditional Belarusian cuisine are stewing and boiling. In the old Belarusian cuisine ingredients were subjected to a long heat cooking and would become very soft and often shapeless. This softness can still be observed nowadays in traditional cooking.

• Finally present day cooking in Belarus is characterized by great creativity of combining the old traditional dishes with features of other world cuisines and mixing varieties of ingredients for example in creative rich salads.

ENO Tree planting day
21.9.2006
Ústí nad Labem

Our school is a member of the ENO (Environment on-line) project. Together with other three hundered schools over the world we create a huge ENO family. We began ENO school year by planting out a school tree all together.

Our students with teachers planted the tree in front of our school on 21.th September 2006. The students wrote for the lime-tree a poem and wished it strong roots, enought sunshine and a long life for it.

We celebrated the International Day of Peace and National Tree Day by this act. The tree is a symbol of respect to the envyronment and all that is alive for us.
